Rome Slater
Rome is the Co-Owner of Creative Culture Dance Academy. Rome also manages the recreational program at Airborne Gymnastics. He has training in various styles of dance including: West Coast Swing, Tap, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Contemporary, Lyrical, and Ballet.
Nigel shum
Nigel is the Co-Owner of Creative Culture Dance Academy. He has training in various styles including: Tap, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Contemporary, Lyrical, and Ballet. At the age of 16 he taught his first Hip Hop class. He later found his love for tap dance which lead him into teaching intermediate and advanced tap classes. He also has a Communication Studies Degree from San Jose State University and has a Masters of Education from National University.
Laura Sefchovich
Laura Sefchovich received her early training in Mexico City at the Escuela Nacional De Danza. She started her RAD training also in Mexico City with Gail Clifford and continued her training with Elizabeth Neumann and Karen Millar, LRAD in Saratoga, Ca. While preparing for exams she also danced with San Jose Dance Theater. Laura studied privately with Gloria Mohr and studied Jazz at Marie Stinnett Dance in Campbell, Ca.
She also participated in summer programs at Jacob’s Pillow with Benjamin Harkavy and at Boston Ballet School. After graduating high school, Laura majored in Dance at the Boston Conservatory of Music. Upon returning to California, she trained with Kristine Elliott at Zohar. She also performed with Santa Clara Ballet, Margaret Wingrove Dance, Mark Foehringer Dance Project and Company C Contemporary Ballet.
Laura has taught ballet in many studios, in the Bay Area, including Gloria Mohr International Ballet School, Ballet Capriole and Western Ballet. She was ballet mistress for Teen Dance Company and The Dance Company.
Laura is a certified classical Pilates instructor and owned Pilates 580 in Oakland for 17 years. She also taught at Purely Pilates and at San Francisco Ballet, training students and company dancers in Joseph Pilates’ original method.
